Video (6:41)
The following video illustrates exploratory data analysis for one quantitative variable by creating numerical (and graphical) summaries for one quantitative variable using ANALYZE – DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS – DESCRIPTIVES and ANALYZE – DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS – FREQUENCIES. These are not the preferred methods but they each have useful features that are worth learning. The following files are associated with this video.

- Go to ANALYZE – DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS – DESCRIPTIVES – FREQUENCIES
- Reset this tool if you have used it recently
- Drag quantitative variables into the variables list
- In STATISTICS – choose desired values
- In CHARTS – we can select histograms and check the box for normal curve
- NOTE: UNCHECK the box for display frequency tables when using this tool for quantitative variables
